I don't know how to. I tried attaching a video as a file but it said it was too large.

  • I have the very same problem as @ValiantRedKnight . I'm not uploading a video, but here is how to reproduce the bug.

Please note that I've completely removed the folder "Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4", so to start a fresh game.

My game is v. 1.68.154.1020, with all the expansion, game and stuff packs.

I first noticed the problem after installing Star Wars, but it may have occurred earlier and I may have just overlooked it.

Here are the steps to reproduce the bug.

    - Start a fresh new game, create a random sim and lodge him at Crick Cabana in Willow Creek.

    - Assign the right side of the double bed to the sim.

    - Set game to x3 speed without interacting with the sim.

    - As soon as the Energy bar becomes yellow, click the Auto-solve button of the energy bar: the sim will go to bed and sleep all night long.

    - NOTE: if the sim goes autonomously to bed, it doesn't count: you must send him to bed using the auto-solve button in order to trigger the bug.

    - The next day, set the game speed to x3 until the Energy bar becomes yellow again.

    At this point:

    1) If you click the auto-solve button, the sim will take a nap (not sleep) on a bed or couch (in other games, my sims went to nap on chairs, too, and long chairs, hot tubs or even sitting at the kotatsu table from Snowy Escape; sometimes they just waved with their hand and did nothing; their first choice is the coffee, if there's a machine on the lot).

    2) If you don't click the auto-solve button, the sim will autonously go napping on a bed or on a coach.

I'm attaching the savegame file (saved as soon as the bug occurred: my sim is still napping on the bed); and I'm also attaching the Config.log file, in case it's useful.

Let me know if I can provide any more information about the problem.

  • Some more (hopefully) useful information.

    1) If you never click the Energy auto-solve button, the sim will spontaneously go to bed and sleep, night after night, without problems; the bug is triggered when you click the Energy Auto-solve button for the first time.

    2) When the bug has been triggered, doing the following things are completely useless to solve the problem:

    - selling and re-buying the bed

    - restarting the game (saved with the bug active)

    - shift-clicking the bed to reset the object.

    3) No matter how many beds there are on the lot, once the bug has been triggered, the sim won't use them spontaneously.

    4) In any case, manually sending a sim to sleep works fine.

    5) Clicking other auto-solve buttons (bladder, hunger...) doesn't affect the bug; however, I noticed (in other games, not this specific test game) that occasionally some other auto-solve buttons trigger odd actions, like drinking coffee to auto-solve the bladder bar. This last oddity may be totally unrelated to the bug, though.

@Numenor65 Thanks for all the steps, I tried a new save and wasn't able to duplicate the issue but I had to interact with the Sim as they started a fire but if not interacting is a requirement to trigger the bug, it seems like something not very many people will encounter (meaning, I'm guessing it's not a requirement)

I also tested your save and while the Sim did use the bed to nap mostly if the bar wasn't yellow or if it was afternoon (in which case Sims have always used nap anywhere they want and not sleep on any surface they can find), the Sim used to bed to sleep fine when clicking auto-solve

I personally have also never encountered this (other than when it's not night as said above) and I hardly ever use anything else then auto-solve.

So, guess leaving this for more feedback from others.

@Numenor65--i use auto-solve for energy most of the time. when i don't, my Sims still sleep or nap autonomously in their assigned beds (either double or single), even if they tend to be very tired when they finally decide to.

i've even tested on a three-year-old save so you can imagine i've used auto-solve there quite a lot. if i let them, everybody sleeps when they're absolutely knackered, and nap when not as much. or, as Crin explained, when it's not night.

  • Thank you so much @crinrict for all the support you always give here and for spending your time looking into my issue.

Not interacting with the sim is not essential, I guess. It was just a way to make the energy bar yellow.

I'll run more tests, creating more fresh games, to be sure that the bug occurs at night and not in daytime, and trying to find the right steps to make it fully reproducible.

@unseenlarks , thank you for replying. I understand, reading the comments on the Internet, that the problem does not affect all the players but only some "lucky" ones 😁

What I don't understand is: why me? What does have my game different than the other people? Once I completely delete the Sims 4 folder from the Documents, my game is virgin, and whatever mod I may have used in the past, and whatever bugged game I may have saved in the past, they just can't affect any more my game.

Once the Sims 4 folder has been deleted, all our games should be identical, and yet mine is different from yours or crinrict. Go figure... 🤔

@Numenor65--in my game this has always related to how tired Sims are. sometimes, even at night, they won't sleep but nap instead, because they're not exhausted enough. i think it's realistic. but if their energy bars start to go into the orange/red, they'll sleep instead.

heh, with this, it's like we're doing a sleep study (i forget the fancy word for it) only with the Sims. 😛

@crinrict , @unseenlarks , I owe you both an apology, as I've made you waste your time when the fault was mine... 😢

While moving away my main "The Sims 4" folder, so to create a fresh game, I accidentally sent one mod to the trashcan; and when I've restored it, it wasn't restored into my main folder, but in the new one I'd just created!

And that very mod was the cause of the bug, without it the problem never occurred once.

For the benefit of @ValiantRedKnight and anyone else may stumble into this thread because is experiencing the same problem, the problem was caused by MCCC (MC Command Center), but not the mod itself, that works perfectly fine: the real culprit is the file that stores the settings of the "tuner" module, named "mc_tuner.cfg". Once deleted it and cleared the cache, the problem was completely solved.

Thank you all for your patience 😋

@crinrict I haven’t patched yet, but the issue does seem to be with the right side of the bed in the patch before the latest one.
