I have the same issue too. You don't have to drag your fruits/ingredients to the floor first though. Use the "open" interaction on the fridge and drag it into the space that opens on the right of the screen.
My game has absolutely no mods.

@mysticalmaid: Dragging from the icon didn't work for me.
@crinrict: I'm using a couple mods for clothing. But since Capajebo's solution helped, I won't be removing them.
