Yes. The BBQ tradition cannot be fulfilled by children.
@Wndblwz I was able to complete it with my sim child by having her eat something her parent made in the BBQ. If you tried that with your sim child, do you recall what food they ate that was made on the BBQ? I think, though I’d have to search to double check, there may be some foods made on the BBQ that don’t complete the tradition as I see Bienchen has a bug fixing mod for that. I’m wondering if you eat those same BBQ foods if they also won’t complete the tradition.

Jennifer- @MapleSimmer (Indicated in original post) Eating the grilled food does not fulfill the task. Don't remember which grilled dish though. Thanks for the reference to Bienchen. I'll check it out.
