sim becomes unplayable when placed in household or lot

What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? City Living, Get Together, Cats & Dogs, Discover University, Vampires
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? place a specific sims in a household
What happens when the bug occurs? a specific sim becomes unplayable when I place it in a household and then when I go to manage worlds and click on the household, the sim isn't part of it anymore. this happens even when place it on a lot on its own without any other sim. my sim basically becomes an npc.
What do you expect to see? the sim should be playable and not be removed from the household.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure
