Sims can't get leftovers in fridge

Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.84.197.1230
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Seasons and University
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Choose the get leftovers option with any fridge or click on the food bar for the sims so they autofill the food requirement.
What happens when the bug occurs? If you try to get leftovers in any of the fridges, the sims just walk in front of the fridge, and make the motion to open the door but nothing happens. After that the prompt disappears. If the sims autonomously try to get leftovers the same things happen and they just keep trying.
What do you expect to see? I expect my sims to be able to get the leftovers out of the fridge and satisfy their hunger.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? No

Hi, I can't figure out how to report a bug or ask for help since every time I try to it sends me to these forums. I have come across other people experiencing this issue in 2020 but I don't see a solution I can try.

My sims don't eat leftovers in the fridge. If I make food and put it in the fridge, it's basically going to go to waste and if I leave it out it gets spoiled. They do eat quick meals but it's not a good long-term solution. My sims family also has toddlers who can't cook so it's also not feasible to cook every time someone wants to eat. 

I tried changing my fridge location and I bought a different fridge but nothing seems to work. 

Is there a way for me to report this issue and get it solved?
