Sims not going to work/school

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? Sims 4
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Seasons, City Living, Parenthood, Tiny Living, Laundry Day, Holiday Celebration Pack, Grim's Ghoulish Guitar
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? I don't know. I just re-installed the game last night and I didn't do anything to cause this.
What happens when the bug occurs? My sim is a critic. When the pop-up to go to work appears, I click on it and nothing happens. Going to work never shows up in her queue and she continues on with what she was doing. When I go to her tab showing her career, there is no option to send her to work. I tried with a new household in a new apartment with the same results.
What do you expect to see? I expect my sim to go to work when I click on the button to go to work.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

Edit By Crinrict: Adjusted Title to better reflect the issue. Merged a few other threads that never had the template filled out into this one.

  • Working from home did work.

Since it's clearly something exclusively with my computer, I used Revo Uninstaller to remove any trace of Sims 4 files and reg keys and Origin files and reg keys from my computer then re-installed Sims 4.  It works now.  I think I may also have had a few minor problems that I wasn't noticing before.  Thank you; I appreciate your time, patience, and help.

  • I can't find the solution that said to rename the file (I think it was this path: C:\Users\XXX\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4) but that's the first thing I tried.  That didn't work so I just deleted everything relating to The Sims 4 after subsequent uninstalls.  I found files in two locations: C:\Users\XXX\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 and C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Sims 4 and I deleted both folders.

@tybbiesniffer I tested your save and the Sim went to work without any issues so it's not a problem with the save.

Do you have the timer counting down or does that also not work for you ?

Are you ever asked to work from home at all or is that also not an option ?

I have Sims on PC, and 3.5 GB of mods, but rarely have a problem with them. Last November, I got 8 packs, one of which was Get Famous. That was the 1st new pack I tried.  My Sim met fell in love with another actor, and when I went to Manage Worlds to find her and move her in, she ended up having triplets and 6 dogs. (My MCCC is set a little hot...LOL!) I don't love doing CAS, but I wanted to use the new packs, but by the time I got to the 3rd one, I'd had it, and used a cute CC hair.

A few days later, the girl with the cc hair wouldn't go to school or drama club. Everyone else was fine. Then I remembered she was the last one I fixed in CAS and might have had CC. Sure enough, it was the cc hair. I've used lots of CC in TS1-4, and have rarely had any problems with it, and have rarely had to update them (except MCCC).

As for killing off the zillions of extra NPCs:

       - Have your Sim go to a computer and open MCCC>MC POPULATION>MOVING SETTINGS>OPEN HOUSES> Set to max value. It makes the max value of houses unavailable for NPCs to move in.

       - Delete Sims in CAS: I set Game Options to make everyone age, figuring they'd just die off. But they even filled up the new packs! Even kicked out Judith Ward! Rude!

I've never murdered Sims. Mine only seem to die of old age. Those days are through....

    Thanks....

What is your current game version number? 1.97.42.1030
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All except Growing together
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Using an employed sim or a child, attempt to go to work or school.
What happens when the bug occurs? Sims refusing to go to work or school. Receive pop-up that they are already at work/school, and that skipping reflects poorly on performance. Clicking both yes and no in response to pop-up has no effect, and an endless loop begins when attempting this action again
What do you expect to see? Sims going to work or school when action is initiated
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. Began after Update 04/18/2023

After school activities are also affected
