    I did all of that yes, however I found out the reason behind my problem- I am an idiot 

    It turns out that my "Stan" from the Get Famous pack was stealing them, I hadnt realized it because I have never had that quirk before and this was also my first save with the new item and my mind just missed that connection apparently. XD But thanks for your help!

@alystorm18 I merged your post with someone else reporting this.

For OP it was someone stealing it. Could that be the case for you too ?

I did have that in mind and I do have a famous sim with an obsessed fan. But I haven't seen them around when it happened. They usually just destroy the trash can.
