[W] [ROM] Werewolf/Spellcaster children become spellcaster with wolf moodlets

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Often (50% - 99%)
What is your current game version number? 1.90.358.1030
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All except most stuff packs, strangerville, and the StarWars one.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Make a Spellcaster and Werewolf have a kid
What happens when the bug occurs? All the kids I've had so far come (4) out as spellcasters (as seen by the Weak Bloodline trait and spell casting poses in CAS), but get werewolf related moodlets (New Fang Pain).
What do you expect to see? They should have moodlets and traits related to only one occult lifestyle
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

So I have a male couple in Sims 4, with the spellcaster father able to get pregnant. Now out of the 4 kids they've had so far, all have been Spellcasters too. They all have the Weak Bloodline trait. This was immediately worrying to me because I thought at least one should be a werewolf by now. Now, this is the first time I noticed one of the toddlers having a New Fang Pain moodlet. From everything I've seen online, sims 4 doesn't support hybrid occult sims, so I'm thinking this has to be some kind of mistake. I've had this concern prior to the patch that made them age up drastically, so I don't think this is related.

@ghetto_music Did the child that is now a werewolf also do the animation ?

I'm not really an expert on those traits but I do think they can be passed down no matter what occult they actually are

So if there's no other indication of them being both, I think it's working as intendend.

  • @ghetto_music I always thought the bloodline was passive. Meaning, that while a Sim may carry it but not be a Spellcaster themselves, they could still in the future produce a Spellcaster because they carry the bloodline trait.

@BlackSassyWolf This is what my understanding is as well. Just because they have the bloodline trait doesn't mean that they're a born spellcaster. It just means that they can carry on the magical bloodline from their parent/parents if they have children or choose to be a spellcaster in the future.
  • @ghetto_music Guess the comments lead to another question. You said they're doing poses in CAS. Could you post a picture of CAS as well ?
  • Yes, so I have that picture for you. I went ahead and aged up 2 of the kids so I can see what happens when they turn teens. In the second picture you'll see that one is a confirmed Spellcaster and one is confirmed werewolf. Both still have the bloodline trait, but from what I can tell from the description of the trait, it is actually a magic boost to the sim who bears it, not just noting them to be a carrier of the bloodline, because it gives +10% spellcasting and +1 talent point each rank. The child that is confirmed spellcaster has the option to practice magic and the one that is werewolf can't despite the trait. Now, my only guess is that if I ever chose to cure my werewolf, he might fall back onto becoming a spellcaster. It'll take me a while to test that theory though.

I have twins from a spellcaster and a werewolf. Both are werewolves, but what confuses me is that both have the magic realm teleportation crystal in their inventory which is a spellcaster thing. Is it by design or a bug/glitch?
