[WORKAROUND] Invisible Friezes

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.58.63.1010
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Get to Work, Get Together, City Living, Cats & Dogs, Seasons, Get Famous, Dine Out, Vampires, Jungle Adventure, Strangerville, Perfect Patio Stuff, Spooky Stuff, Movie Hangout Stuff, Vintage Glamour Stuff, Toddler Stuff, Laundry Day Stuff
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Create two levels with a second level room open to the floor below. Place pillars on exterior corners. Attempt to place frieze on the exterior walls, either by clicking around the room or by using shift+click to place the frieze on specific exterior walls.
What happens when the bug occurs? When using shift+click to place friezes, the pillars will lower as if the frieze has been placed, and the frieze will be charged to household funds as if it has been placed, but the frieze will not be visible. The pillars cannot be raised higher after placing these invisible friezes.
What do you expect to see? I expect to see either the frieze placing, or an error indicating that it cannot be placed.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. Latest patch, as far as I know.

This bug is specific to rooms open to the floor below (and the room I'm trying to place friezes on does still register as a 'room' with the yellow highlight and not just walls).

I'd settle for a workaround if anyone has one!

  • @crinrict This is a different issue- but I think I've found a workaround after all! If I delete the balcony 'room', the friezes reappear. So before creating the balcony I have to put the friezes on the exterior walls, then create the balcony using floor pieces only, and then finally add the fencing but only using the 'replace fences' function (not building the fences new).

No, I think this is a different issue - I haven't used rounded pieces anywhere. I'm testing further and i think it has to do with the balcony I've created? It's like the game registers the exterior wall as an interior one because there's a fenced-in balcony.
