Backstory:

Emmalyn's case of vampirism is quite a different tale to what may be considered the norm. Back when she was still human, she led a life of hedonism, indulging in all forms of pleasure, food, music, alcohol, the flesh - until one day, she bedded the wrong man, the husband of an evil witch.

This witch cast a curse on Emmalyn,

"An immortal life you shall live, one without any form of pleasure! All food will turn to dust in your mouth, all drinks shall turn to oil. All music shall sound like a murder of crows, and all matters of the flesh shall have an opposite effect!"

By uttering this curse, the witch had turned Emmalyn into a Psychic Vampire - she absorbed and fed off of the emotions of the people around her, completely draining them of the desires they previously held just moments before.



Centuries, Emmalyn lived with this curse in despair, for it was as the witch had said and she lived a life without pleasure. But after a while, she tested the boundaries of this curse. She began to start hearing music again through the different tones of crows cawing, and while food and drink would never again be something that she could ever enjoy, she was able to use her Vampiristic powers for good.

People would come to her, looking for something:

• A faithful husband having thoughts of infidelity would spend a moment in the room with her and leave without even knowing he ever had those thoughts.
  
• A shy man that keeps chickening out of asking his crush out on a date would sit down with Emmalyn and by the time he left, would only feel confidence.
  
• A woman, sad over the loss of a family member would come and leave thinking of only the happy memories they had of the person.
  

It is still dangerous though, as the human mind is a flippant thing. She hides herself away and only deals through a series of agents that find her business. Before the humans sit with her, they are warned to think of only the thing that they wish to avoid.

• That same faithful husband, if he suddenly thought about how much he loved his wife while sitting with Emmalyn, would leave the room and act on those initial thoughts.
  
• That shy man that so desperately wants to ask out his crush, if he suddenly thought about the date that he was going to go on, instead of his fear of never asking, he would leave the room and believe that he never has a chance and will never ask.
  
• That woman who is sad over the loss of a family member, if she was to think about a happy moment would leave the room and only be able to think about the sad moments.
  

Although she has long given up trying to find it, there is a cure out there for her curse. She has grown to accept she brought this on herself and instead tries to focus on the good she can do with her powers. As with most curses out there, only true love will break it, but when you steal the emotions of the people around you, how will true love ever happen?
