From what I see you can only track fishing and gardening. Which I consider more skill building then pure collections. I’d like to be able to track all the finds. Like shells, photographs collections like in sims 3. It was just easier and gave me something to complete. Displays are very lacking. Adding some would be nice and like you mentioned having the ability to make things out of the collectibles and sell them in a store not poof out of inventory or through a computer. Yes you have retail, but it’s very limited and once again displays for stores are limited and there isn’t enough of space to build stores. If they would add perhaps space leasing in a commercial building and added displays and interactions that would be great. I personally hate emotional influence of items because the emotional system makes sims very clone like. You can display insects and even make flower arrangements, but both are nearly identical in appearance. All insect cases look the same, all flower arrangements look almost the same. It would have been better to have less of them but diversify in the way they look. I can collect a large amount of bugs but the bug cases can’t be displayed in a meaningful way. They are bulky and take up lots of space. If they would create a display to stack them in big terrariums that would be cool. Bugs are not a big issue since they can be used in herbalist. I just wish you can collect them outside of outdoor retreat. But gems, shells, world specific and photos need collection sets that could provide game play and be better used in build and cas.
Also collections should be a challenge and provides potential for game play and other rewards. Like earning a trait that allows sims to do other things from animation to interactive stand point. For example when you complete the strangeville aspiration you get a reward in a trait which allows you to talk about the adventure, but unfortunately the creators ended there. The telling has no impact on anything because other sims do not care one bit. What my big point is add all those things but also complete the loop to make it impactful. Not just half ass it.
