You are so welcome.? Eternal life and eternal youth get mixed together by Hollywood. The terms really only came into most people's mind because of Hollywood. The two are intertwined through cinematic vampire lore. Because Hollywood links youth to beauty most people do the same. Hollywood vampires are always young adults, so we all take that as gospel. Vampires are immortal, or eternal life, and in movies they are always young so the two become canonized as the same.
In regards to youth and beauty, there is a small bit of truth to that. But, I would argue that it’s more subjective than anything else.

Both are storytelling tropes and pop culture tropes.
It just so happens that merfolk are similar to vampires in stories.
Some merfolk are ugly monsters in myths, legends, or fairytales. Other merfolk are beautiful and handsome with a certain alluring quality to them.
