does anyone else miss how Sims 2 had both positive and NEGATIVE tasks you could do?

felt this helped break my boring cycle of repetition where i end up doing the same sort of story over because it could randomly give you a "go to work" or "be nice to" as BAD tasks which could throw a wrench into the routine which was GREAT, and even the random good tasks based around how your sims traits and such were like "get into a fight" or "be enemies with" which again threw a wrench into the stale repeating play which allowed a same-ish story to play out somewhat different due to randomness :)

hoping we get 5 task bubbles in future with 2 of them being "bad thoughts" which basically lower mood (possibly saddening or angering the sim) and maybe life points if triggered which stay till the end of the day or refresh every 12 sim hours.
  • Yeah, the lack of Fears is a real drawback to TS4. (This is what those "negative tasks" were called in TS2.) There's no way to lose aspiration points in this game.

yeah fears, sorry been a while since i jumped on sims 2
i think i just miss the feeling of risks from older sims games i guess, they had a way of making you play somewhat out of the norm
  • that'd be fun, having fears would work awesomely as well. I really miss my sims not being this kind of perfect person. Lately it feels like their personality doesn't really change them, they feel like the same sim no matter what you play as. BUT maybe that's just me
  • I'd love to have fears in the game, leading to a Fear emotion at times. That would be more appropriate than the Tense emotion for some situations, such as being around Aliens and Vampires.

    sure why not :D
me, i wanna see fears that strongly impact sadness, tension and anger, for instance i fear the dentist, if i'm made to go to the dentist i WILL cry, meaning i'm very sad, but another thing is i hate crowds but being in one would make me tense rather than angry or sad, etc. sims 4 is the perfect place for fear system to come into place and break the mold of routine :)
  • Fears already exist, in the sense of "do thing X with trait Y, get a negative moodlet". The main limiter here is that if your house is well decorated, you've just had a good meal, and you're wearing clean clothes, you'll overpower it with positive moodlets. That's just how the game works today.

Fears in the sense of anti-wishes that remove reward points? Maybe, but they work best with a sims 2 style where there's also a lifetime happiness meter. Having an unhappy or maladjusted sim can be fun in its own right. Being docked points feels like punishing the player, which is something that games should try to avoid.
  • If they're optional, sure. Negative moods are already annoying as it is (and thankfully that's lessened with special baths from Spa Day). So as long as I can avoid doing that, then it's fine with me. I dunno, I prefer efficiency over extra tedium or something. But I seem to have a weird idea of what 'challenge' is compared to some too. Taking 5 extra hours to do something because a Sim is sad or tense just doesn't appeal to me.
  • Those were fun. Those and the memories are pretty much the only things I miss from TS2.
