Over 90% of my Sims (until the next generation at least) are straight and cis gender :#. I let the game kind of go as it wanted, which even with mods resulted in primarily cis gender straight characters. With recent updates this year, that's finally changing. I don't have a lot of visible diversity either. As you've noticed, the Fiers aren't particularly good... and I didn't want to perpetuate any negative stereotypes. But I also did not start my legacy with Simlit in mind (I was trying out a new pack) and, in the beginning, I wasn't sure how I wanted to interpret their story or how to balance such a large cast in a gameplay-based save with aging on (and not on long lifespans). I also thought people were likely to stop reading if posts were longer than 300 - 600 words.
The worst part about being a vampire, or just immortal in general is always knowing your going to lose your friends and loved ones someday and that it will keep happening over and over.
I agree. I think it's not so bad if everyone around you is a vampire/immortal too, but when there's inequality and when someone is immortal or not is mostly by chance/luck, it becomes an issue.
At heart, I'm mostly a slice of life player, so I'm not really into occults fighting amongst themselves or other occults - that's not a big part of the legacy. When I was posting the part where you're at now, the main things I was thinking were that it's fine to have unlikable characters but the main characters can't cross any red lines into the unforgiveable/irredeemable because that's not what I was going for and I wanted the other characters being around them to make sense. So if you continue, you will probably (hopefully?) notice me slowly fleshing out themes and getting to know the main characters more and beginning to experiment more with my writing. It's true that I don't mind unlikeable characters, but I do push them a bit into the likeable/relatable or, at least understandable, area. Honestly, people like you who are kind enough to read my posts and comment on my legacy (especially when it may not be your thing because it has occults, etc.) made and make me want to do better. I'm not always sure how to accomplish that, but I try different things. Comparing the most recent Winterfest chapters (5.33-4) with the first one (4.12), there's an improvement even though I treat the most recent chapter as a special chapter and hardly include any text.
