Game Pack Idea: Farm Living

I replied to the Nectar making thread, but the idea kind of expanded beyond that and I wanted to post something a little more flushed out.

Inspiration from the Farm to Table trend:

New Neighbourhood/World with inspiration from vineyards in Italy, Tuscany or Napa Valley. 3 large lots of 50x50 or 64x64.

New kitchen build buy objects in antique or country style.
New CAS in a rustic feel: Overalls, farm hats, cowboy boots etc.

New plants: Wheat and corn
New objects: Chicken Pen, Cow Milker, Nectar Maker (using existing fruit), Pasta Maker, Cheese Maker and Roadside stall (to sell produce and meals).

New lot types: Vineyard and farm

It would be nice if lots could be split between commercial and residential: so you could live at your farm, or above your store or restaurant.

New traits: early riser, organic enthusiast.

You could also be able to hire field hand

This would also be a great pack to add tweaks to gardening. Like fertilizing in the dormant season giving a boost.

I'd rather see this as an expansion pack. There have been several threads on this in the last few years and waaaaay too many ideas (or too large of concepts) to pack into a game pack. I think even what you have stated here is too much for a game pack.

First, it needs a larger world to include larger lots. They tend to only have small worlds in game packs.
There are many more harvestables they could add. We still don't have some basics like lettuce and cucumbers and so many other veggies like corn, okra and squash. I want peach trees and real orange trees. Where are the blueberries? Wheat, oat, barley and rice would be appreciated.
Livestock including chickens, cows, sheep and llamas. We could collect eggs from chickens, milk from cows and wool from sheep and llamas. We could make cheese and butter along with so many other recipes. We could shear sheep and llamas, spin the wool into fibers, create cloth on a loom and sew our own clothing.
A Farmer's Market could be added to sell harvestable goods. Let the Sims bargin here or maybe even barter for goods.
A County Fair would be so much fun with some carnival rides and caricature artists (a new option for "painters"). Food stalls with corn dogs, cotton candy and funnel cakes. Add the ability to make these at home by adding a deep fryer. Expand more recipes to include fried okra and fried turkey. A crock pot would be another nice kitchen appliance.
  • I'm all for a Tuscan World.

In terms of build/buy interactive objects
I would like to see a Woohoo Haystack, Like the WooHoo bushes we got in Get Together. even use Hay as a bed for lazy sims who take a break in the barn and nap.

I would love to be able to build a Distillery too, I built a room in my sim's basement as a wine cellar, would love barrels to store their crafts.
be able to Name, Bottle, and serve/sell your craft to restaurant menus or in retail stores.

They should make it so, Mass Production of crops is worth doing.
For example, to use the Wine Presser the sim needs to have Harvested at least 10 Grape Clusters.

Hoping Hens, Pigs, Cows/Bulls will be like Cats and Dogs, in a way. Would love to be able to interact with them, more so as pets.

Definitely Corn and Wheat, I want to grow a very intricate Wheat Maze.

Aside from building a a Successful Winery,
Making Harvest Festivals more fun is really what I'm after.

    New Traditions:
    Racing
    Eating Contests
    Bull Riding
    Hog Wrestling
    Mud Wrestling
Best in Show Pageant, Contests, Pigs, Cows, Dogs, Cats, and Children, All are welcome. Exploit Showcase your sim's looks and or skills.

  • I saw this post last night before I went to bed and I have honestly been thinking about it all day. I love farming games so much and I would just absolutely love to be able to actually farm in the sims, make full plots, have farm animals, the whole shebang!
  • I really love the idea of a Tuscany-inspired theme for a farm pack/expansion! Really beautiful complement for farming. I also second it being an expansion pack- there's SO much that could be done.
