Get Rid of The Kleptomaniac Trait Or Change It!

Seriously getting annoying seeing Sims randomly take things all over the neighborhoods. I keep losing stuff at my house, retail, and restaurants! The trait must be removed or you change things around.

Solution 1
-Remove it.

Solution 2
-Make it so non active Sims don't actually take things. They act like they do but really don't. Just like in retail in Get To Work. Sims 'buy' things but really don't use their money or actually own the things afterwards. Also like in Dine Out Sims eat all the time at restaurants but don't actually become huge (especially since only the same few Sims keep coming to them). Make it so they act like they steal but really don't.

The community lots and my house are becoming barren. Like a swarm of locusts they come in out of nowhere and before you know it, its all over. I'm tired of replacing things by going into buy/build mode and trying to get the right things and place them in the right spot again and again and again and again and again. With the random townie generation it makes things impossible to contain. I never create kleptomaniac Sims because of this problem. I wouldn't mind it if things were more controllable though. I mean why do you advertise the game as 'you rule' when I can't rule that kleptomaniacs are a problem and must be dealt with? o:)

Are these all glitches? Because I've never had any of this happened with me. But I agree with what others have said.

We should be able to accuse other sims of stealing and ask them to return stolen items and if they refuse we can call police and then they will be forced to give back stolen items including other consequences.

I like the chaos of the trait lol

Maybe having an option to turn it off under "gameplay" would be useful for those who hate it?

Perhaps for you it is, but for those of us who are sick of having half our stock vanish while trying to run a retail store, it kinda sucks. When you have a small shop and ring up 4 customers and then realize literally half your stock is GONE with no restock signs, ya, you're not making any money. The OP has a point, we should have a CHOICE in the matter. They really need to give us an option in settings to either have random sims generate with the trait or not, and why is EVERY SINGLE PAPARAZZI a klepto? That simply makes no sense. And all these replies about enjoying having it on your playable Sim are irrelevant as the OP is talking about non player Sims taking from his builds.

For me, the most annoying part is having to replace those objects on community lots...

Well, I see one main difference between Kleptomaniacs and burglars.

Kleptomaniacs can steal at anytime anywhere, burglars only steal when they come to your sim's house at night uninvited.

That is also why "Sharing is Caring" NAP is disliked.

The OP's post is hilarious. "The community lots and my house are becoming barren. Like a swarm of locusts they come in out of nowhere and before you know it, its all over." :joy: I was just about to try and build a community lot today, I'll have to keep an eye out for this.

Maybe we need a security alarm to add to the lots, so if someone tries to steal they get arrested or we can at least tackle them and get back our Sim's stuff. Or get it mailed back to the lot from the police station with a note saying item was recovered and thief apprehended.

Hmm, I have no issues with the kleptos in my game. And I have a lot of celebrities that are followed by the paparazzi everywhere. They're usually too busy taking pictures and chatting with randos (or each other) to steal anything, I guess.
