Overall, I am hopeful that the Sims team is taking some steps towards deeper personality with lifestyles and sentiments, but I seem to always be looking for more when it comes to Sims 4. Would love if sims interacted differently with sims with different traits - maybe some sort of compatibility system based on traits? It seems like any sim can be friends with another with enough effort, when in real life it's much more complicated. Romantic or platonic relationships could grow faster with similar traits (a couple of geeks or bros), and grow slower or hit roadblocks with opposing traits (active and couch potato, or good and evil). Unique interactions based on compatibility would be ideal, rather than shallow one-off social interactions based upon traits and skills .
I always say the next two, but only because they're such a critical piece of immersive gameplay - NPC story progression and open neighborhoods. Story progression just makes the game that much livelier when NPCs are forming families, embarking on careers. I love the randomness when life is happening around you, and you don't have to initiate it all the time.
Open neighborhoods may not be deeper gameplay, but certainly makes a lot of deeper gameplay more accessible. I'm more reluctant to explore beyond my sim's four walls when I know I'll have to sit through a loading screen - which is considerably longer with this latest update - and would love more accessible interaction with the rest of the neighborhood.
