I would prefer those items you describe to come in an expansion pack focusing on growing up (like Generations). Then we could also get after school activities, teacher career and a bunch of other gameplay too instead of just a few items. Teens need more than acne and some new fashion to feel like a unique life stage.
Kid's room seems like a great stuff pack, but I didn't buy it because the way I see it, the game is lacking so much substance in the family oriented child and teen area that I expect there to be an EP eventually. Stuff packs with two or three gameplay objects don't help much.
