Like @mizuru007 said, take inspiration from Sims Freeplay. The toddlers have all kinds of items to keep them happy and entertained. Not only that but there are so many more lifestages in Freeplay. I don't understand how a free game can have more interactions than the one we pay for. As someone with a toddler, I think the cuddling on the couch watching tv or reading a book interactions are great ideas. I liked in Sims 2 how you could teach the toddler a nursery rhyme. I think in the past they've done a great job with toddlers. So as long as we get toddlers eventually I will be happy.
