The thing that I want to see the most from Toddlers in the future is to make them more fun as actual playable sims. By that, I mean allow them to interact with objects in the typical mischievous ways that kids that age do: Pulling clothes out of drawers or books off of shelves and making a mess of things, eating bugs off the lawn, dropping stuff in the toilet, getting into everything...You know, like real 1.5-3-year-olds do! And let the player be able to initiate those interactions!
I mean, one of the most fun things in this series is getting to play the part of both the little angel and the little devil on your sims' shoulders. When your only options with a sim are "Play with toy," "Play with other toy," or "move on to someone more interesting"...well, it kind of kills the fun. Toddlers shouldn't just be fun if you're interacting with them through other sims. They should be fun to play with on their own too.
That's the one thing that bugs me about that life stage in TS2: They're no fun as individual sims, just as sidekicks to older sims. Their enforced supporting role is especially disheartening when you're trying to develop this sim as a character through play. If the kid can't make messes, get in trouble, scoot down the stairs on their butt, can only play in the toilet if the game decides to initiate that randomly...how can you establish a spunky, mischievous, rebellious, or down-right evil personality right from the start? I mean, talk about gameplay and story separation...
Anyway, that's all I really want, for Toddlers to be actually fun as playable characters. I respect that a lot of people really love the babydoll aspect of them from previous games, but I just want a little more meat to their gameplay, that's all.
