So as an aside from the family play thread chat I wanted to offer people a place to suggest their ideas for a perfect scenarios for toddlers in TS4 in a bite size format as suggested by a couple of us...

You can take family leave, not sure how many days offhand. I usually have a stay at home parent anyways in my families. Gardening can be more profitable than a job sometimes. Especially if you do more than just garden.
