Pt 2.
Geoffrey began to notice that he looked a lot older than he felt, so he invested in a home gym and started working on taking better care of himself. Which, thankfully, included the help of a stylist to update his look. Some might call it a midlife crisis, but Geoffrey called it a wake-up call. He knew Dahlia was much younger than himself, and that she did share some similarities with Nancy - but he reasoned that those similarities were superficial. He knew his marriage hadn't been happy in years, and he didn't think it'd be fair for him and Nancy to spend the rest of their lives in such a state. He especially knew Nancy deserved better.

Nancy noticed the change, and in a moment of sheer frustration, she confronted Geoffrey. This wasn't like their past arguments, as the distance between them had become insurmountable. Each jab and retort had an undercurrent of finality to it, as the couple was truly at their wit's end.

They tried not to go to bed angry, but it was clear there wasn't going to be a happy resolution. Nancy blamed herself, even though she knew she'd given it her all. She couldn't help but think about what her "friends" would say, or how she'd go about rebuilding her life. She felt a bit of jealousy, not just because Geoffrey had moved on, but because she noticed he was changing - in some ways, for the better - and she resented that he seemed to be getting happier the more their relationship fell apart. The following morning, Geoffrey filed for Divorce.

Nancy turned to her friends, the Socialites of the Springs, for consolation. Despite their snobbish reputation, they pulled through for Nancy and were able to turn her mood around (with the help of a few bottles of Granite Falls Grappo Blanco!).

Being an attorney, Nancy knew dividing the life she'd shared with Geoffrey wouldn't be an easy task - especially not without disrupting Malcolm. But, for now, she could just be in the moment and try to hold onto the brief respite from the unknown.
