It’s strange to write about Ireland with an international audience in mind as there are some things I know will require too much explanation, and I try not to use names and slang that will be prohibitive, but all the same I’m so glad that it still seems familiar and Irish to you! Marnie is the true villain, but she needs to be there to illustrate that exact point you just made - people will go back to the same, comfortable pattern over and over again unless they make a conscious effort to step outside their comfort zone.
I’m happy that the resources is helpful. It’s funny how little is known about us here on our little floating rock, but it makes sense to me at the same time. Being sandwiched between two powerful English speaking counties like the UK and the US makes us seem very small. We don’t have a big population, but our culture is very distinctive!
