Updates Wednesdays Evelyn "Evie" Kilbride has always been the quiet friend, a shy girl who never had much to say, happy to wait in the wings as her best friend Kelly, the loud, confident ...
@hellohannah2 You did such a lovely job with this chapter, the Instagram pages, and those portraits of Evie.? As usual your writing and screenshots are spectacular!❤️
It couldn't be clearer that Evie hasn't made much progress, or any at all, in moving on from Jude. What do those portraits of Evie say about where he is in terms of their relationship? All of them except maybe the skeptical expression have at least an air of infatuation if not love. Her drinking is becoming very problematic and it is a tool she uses to forget. Her father is a role model for unhealthy relationships with alcohol. It would be so horrible to see Evie follow in his footsteps. Her current drinking has taken a dark turn. This isn't what I would consider a true rock bottom, but hopefully it's Evie's 'rock bottom' and that she can and will turn things around before they reach addiction.
This is a side of Shane I never expected to see. I had him tagged from the beginning as a typical jock. Crude, childish, and sort of wearing those descriptions as a badge of honor. I've often wondered what Claire saw in him and now I think we see it. He's a lot smarter and perceptive than his childish male antics would lead you to believe. I gained a lot of respect for Shane in this chapter. With the opinion I had of him before this chapter, when Evie confronts Kelly and he in turn confronts Evie, I thought 'Oh god, she's going to lose another relationship', and she isn't equipped at this point to deal with that. I thought Shane was going to kick her out of his and Claire's life. Claire isn't perfect but she and Shane are emerging as the best people and relationships in Evie's life. I've been hoping Claire will be the one to step up and help Evie with her drinking problem. But taking Evie out to a pub and leaving her alone like that shows Claire either doesn't see the problem or she's not sure how to address it with Evie without chasing her away. I will add that I hope that fight with Kelly will help her move on and to stop dwelling on their lost friendship, but will she remember it tomorrow? If she does, how much of it will she remember? Will it help her to move on, or will it make things even worse? Because she's going to feel badly about her actions, that's just our Evie? Right now it's so hard to tell how she will perceive things because she's still such a tangled ball of emotions.
