Yeah, I would like an option for no wands as well, like in Sims 3. I believe they did a good job with magic in Sims 3 to be honest, no fiddling around to get random ingredients. Sure "Eye of Newt" sounds funny at first, but it was so annoying trying to either buy more or make my own in the Sims 2 to cast some spell. Same thoughts in the Sims Makin Magic, but the magic crystals sort of remedied that.
Also, magic alignment in Sims 2 was not my favorite, especially since my favorite was the end spell for neutral, but 1 simple good/bad spell would make my Sim forget it instantly (like inflammo...)
