Assignment 6- When you Just Knew
From the first day he met her, Devon knew there was something special about Tiffany. There was a strong connection between the two, and from day one, he had a feeling that she would be 'the one'. This feeling was confirmed for Devon on one particular day; a day seemingly like all the others before it. After a few photo shoots in a new city, the pair walked around hand in hand; observing and taking in all the different sights and sounds.
It was Tiffany who suggested visiting a local park, and she practically pulled Devon along with her, but he didn't mind. He loved seeing her so happy and excited. Her smile and laugh was infectious.
They spent time together under a tree for shade; sitting on a park bench. They talked quietly among themselves, and gazed at the white puffy clouds overhead. Devon felt comfortable and relaxed with Tiffany. No matter what his day was like; she always seemed to make him feel instantly at peace.
He couldn't help but sigh contently, and he soon found his eyes closing. But a sudden cry of distress caused him to open them again, and he sat up abruptly.
"What is that dreadful sound...?" Devon asked; still in a sleepy daze.
Tiffany detached herself from his arms, and stood up. "I think it might be a child..."
"And...?" Devon asked. "I'm sure its parent will take care of it."
Tiffany shook her head; feeling a little uneasy. "I don't know...I think something's wrong."
She took a few steps forward, and scanned the area. She walked further away from the bench; following the cries.
Devon sighed slightly, but got up to join her.
A few moments later, Tiffany gasped and said, "I think I see him!"
Devon turned, and looked to where she was pointing. He made out a small figure, in bright clothing.
His girlfriend immediately went up to the young child. Devon wasn't quite sure what to do or say to calm the situation, so he stayed a few feet away.
Tiffany talked quietly to the child, and soon she came back to Devon; holding the child's hand. He was no longer crying, and actually seemed quite happy.
Devon sat back down on the bench and said, "Wow...how did you do that?"
"Do what?"
"How'd you get him to stop crying..?"
Tiffany looked down at the little boy. "I just talked to him." She picked the child up, and held him close. "It seems like he's lost. His poor parents must be worried sick.."
Devon furrowed his brows; still slightly puzzled by what happened.
For about a half hour or so, Tiffany didn't let the child out of her sight.
"His name is Ethan."
Devon tilted his head to the side. "What..? Don't tell me you named him..."
Tiffany giggled, and held the child close. "It's on his shirt tag."
"Oh...Right."
Tiffany wouldn't let the child out of her sight, and stayed put, in hopes that the parents would find Ethan. For half an hour Devon watched her interact with the child. She was still young herself, and yet... she acted so mature and motherly towards the child.
Motherly. Children.
Devon felt his cheeks flush at the thought, and he shook his head to stop himself from thinking like that.
Still, there was something about seeing his girlfriend spending time with a child....Devon felt a strong sense of pride, and pure happiness from watching it. She was able to keep Ethan calm and happy, and it was like she's born to do this.
Devon found himself staring in awe at Tiffany. It was then that he knew for sure...he'd found the one. His true love.
Tiffany stopped her game of peek a boo when she felt Devon's eyes on her.
"What?" she asked; a wide grin on her face.
"Nothing...Just thinking."
She blew a kiss at him; before going back to playing with Ethan.
Just thinking...how much I love you.

Tiffany- Awww...you never told me about that!
Devon- Yeah, yeah. Don't embarrass me...
Anyway, yeah the child's mother was looking for her son, and discovered him with us. She was a bit frantic, and worried over her son wandering off, but she was very grateful that we'd been looking after him.
Tiffany- You mean that I'd been looking after him...
Devon- Yeah, what she said.
