More skills should be unlockable for kids
It's very frustrating and disappointing how few skills can be worked on in the child stage once the 4 child skills are maxed, and logically and storywise I feel like it doesn't make sense to exclude them from a number of them simply on the basis that they're children. I honestly can't think of any skill in the sims that a ten year old couldn't even get started on. According to Carl's Sims Guide the unlocked skills are:
Mental: Fishing, Logic, Video Gaming.
Social: Charisma, Mischief
Creativity: Piano, Violin
Motor: none.
Maybe this was added later, but in actuality motor skill does unlock one adult skill: video gaming. Which is already unlocked by mental. So, yeah, that still puts motor as pretty lame compared to the others, and the others are pretty limited. Here are some possible additions that would make maxing those kids skills a lot more satisfying.
Mental: Archaeology, Gardening, Herbalism, Programming, Rocket Science (maybe only from working on school projects, but still could be viable), Wellness, Writing
Social: Comedy, Pet Training, Selvadoradan Culture, Parenting
Creativity: Painting (if adults can gain painting skill from drawing on a place mat at a restaurant, why can't kids when working on their activity table?), Cooking, Photography, Singing, Writing
Motor: Fishing, Gardening, Cooking, Fitness (I get they can't use equipment, but they should still be able to gain the skill through swimming and doing push ups, and honestly by continuing to play on the monkey bars), Dancing, Handiness, Wellness,
Some are doubled, but they've already got video gaming as unlockable by motor AND mental, so I don't think that should be a problem.
I get that that's a lot, and I don't expect all of that--it's just some options to choose from. Honestly, I'd be fine with something like this:
Mental: Fishing, Logic, Programming
Social: Charisma, Mischief, Comedy
Creativity: Piano, Violin, Painting
Motor: Video Gaming, Fitness, Dancing
Take away video gaming from mental and give it solely to motor and give motor fitness (which it should have had already, jeesh) so it's even, then add one more skill to each to beef them up a bit. And if they gave me something like this?
Mental: Fishing, Logic, Programming, Gardening
Social: Charisma, Mischief, Comedy, Pet Training
Creativity: Piano, Violin, Painting, Writing
Motor: Video Gaming, Fitness, Dancing, Handiness
I'd be absolutely fucking thrilled.
