New Infants vs Old Babies. What we would like to see in any new lifestages

I just saw an article by some prominent simmers who pointed out that; while I had thought we were getting a revamped baby stage, it actually looks like we're getting a brand new life stage via Infants. You can check out their article to see all the hints they found that lead them to that and ended up convincing me.

Which made me start thinking. My first thoughts were along the lines of:

I kinda wish they had just fixed babies. It's a bit like keeping them as a placeholder. And you're just gonna end up aging them up to avoid the hassle and enjoy the new life stage available, just like with toddlers. If anything I hope this means they show up in CAS and family info panel pic.
But maybe this means preteens are an option too depedning on how simmers end up reacting to these.

But then I started thinking more, especially after seeing some excitement for the new babes in the community. I own like every sims 3 pack. I bought them in college when I got my first personal computer. And couldn't run it for my life. And ended up getting the sims 4 bc it was literally releasing at that time. So I was only able to log a few real life hours with Sims 3 babies, even after having bought ALL the things in the sims3 store. So I knew what I could have done. And I did receive an imaginary friend or two. Never got far enough to make one real though.

Coming to the Sims 4 and we had to fight for toddlers. Fight to get more activities for anyone who wasn't a YA or older. And now we're getting more active babies/Infants. And I'm here for it. Even if it's an extra step. As long as it comes with just as much cool stuff as the sims 3 did. And most of it is free. I wouldn't mind a stuff pack like we got for toddler stuff. But it needs to come as an addition. With stuff that makes like easier, but in no way detracts from game play if you don't have it.

Ergo I need strollers and baby swings from day one. I want a boppy pillow, and that like snuggly sling thing so you can wrap your baby on your front or your back. You can even wrap 2 babies in those. I wanna see maternity wear that looks nice.

Cool cute clothing options. Preferably with gender neutral options because some of us would like to not even have our pixel kids be raised in the gender binary. Make Simmer Price Toys a thing. Cow goes moo type stuff to fascinate the babies. Binkies. Teething toys. Oh it'd be so cute if they teethed. And would tie in well with aging into a toddler. Because toddlers eat solid food already. Pre-school tv vs kids tv.

What would you all like to see? And do you think there's any hope for pre-teens to come into the scene?

Baby> Infant> Toddler> Child> Preteen> Teen> Young Adult> Adult> Edler

    I think I like the bassinette stage for newborns as it may cause problems revamping them. It was probably easier to do the new lifestage.

    I'm not a fan of preteen but that does seem to be popular. To me preteen is a child LOL but then I am old. Not feeble just old. Ha ha

    I would like to see senior then elder though. Mostly as I live in a seniors building and some of them are far from feeble or needing canes. Or for that matter dying after woohoo. :#

    I was thinking about something between Adult and Elder too. Because it is kind of like you go from 30/40 to well death by woo-hoo. Which is not a great sentiment to give. Nor is the depiction of Elders representative of everyone.

    I'd honestly love to see more with disability too. I'm 27 and rocking a cane and other aids. Still young but yeah.

    I'm gonna go play Sims 3 on my new laptop so I can actually see if I can get the baby stuff to work and get excited for the new infants.

    I just came up with new ideas of stuff I'd love to see with babies some are obviously repeats from above but here's most of it together:


    1.Teething rings, which would really help feed into toddlers bc those already eat solid food and have their teeth.
    2.The baby sling that let's you wrap them on your body. Those can hold more than one baby too on front of you. Or one on front one on the back.
    3.The boppy pillow that let's them sit up and keeps their heads elevated.
    4. Baby food
    5. Baby toys. Like Simmer Price instead of Fisher. Cow goes moo type toys. Maybe with the animals from the farm pack.
    6. Obvi strollers and baby swings
    7. Walker. I know toddlers gain movement skill but they don't really crawl all that much. They stumble. And the first thing they do from age up is take their first steps. So a baby walker would be really helpful again as a tie in.
    8. A baby highchair since they're different.
    9. Maternity wear. Cute stuff.
    10. Pregnancy pillows
    11. Baby bathtub/those ones you can put in the bathtub or sink to keep them more secure
    12. Changing station, diaper genie
    13. Cloth diaper options
    14. Gender neutral clothing for babies and toddlers, and then more for those going up.

    And extra stuff that would maybe come in a stuff pack later:

    1. New camera stuff for your baby's first photo shoot
    2. First birthday stuff

    Yup I was saying middle aged sim as well they can have a midlife crisis, enjoy early retirement (if player choose to.) They can pick up a hobby, have no more kids like the elders. Enjoy woohoo not like the elders who loose stamina and die. More wrinkles in the face and arms and legs the adult have some sort of menopause going through hot/cold flashes.

    See to me a child and Preteens are different if your in the U.S. a child will attend an elementary school a Preteens will attend a middle school or a Jr. High school then as teenagers they will go to high school. The thing for me is a Preteen life stage is at that rebellious stage the back talking stage, stomp around the house slamming door stage because they are going through puberty. They care more about they're appearance at this age then they did as a child. Like that's when Preteens express themselves also what group of friends friends elementary or new friends.

    See to me a child and Preteens are different if your in the U.S. a child will attend an elementary school a Preteens will attend a middle school or a Jr. High school then as teenagers they will go to high school. The thing for me is a Preteen life stage is at that rebellious stage the back talking stage, stomp around the house slamming door stage because they are going through puberty. They care more about they're appearance at this age then they did as a teen. Like that's when Preteens express themselves also what group of friends friends elementary or new friends.


    Yeah also you get the first stirrings of like crushes and attraction around that stage. Like yeah kids actually already tend to start figuring out their gender before that, especially if they're in an open enough household to explore it. But once you become a preteen when all those hormones start hitting, all the processes speed up.

    For me it was honestly a more volatile state than most of being an actual teenager. It felt like my body was screaming at me all the time and I didn't know what it wanted. Meanwhile I'm still trying to watch shows like Winx Club on Saturday Mornings. The dichotomy between not being just a kid anymore but not fully a teen. And really everything under an adult being a kid is just stressful.

    Preteens are the embodiment of Marnie Piper (?) Cromwell in Halloweentown when she tells her mom she wants to celebrate Halloween and she's "13 so she's basically an adult." Only Preteens are basically just 12 year olds, and Tweens are 11-12 year olds. And that second one only really was popular when I was growing up bc so many girls and afab were getting their periods so young and like me being told "You're a woman now. But you're still a kid. But you're not a preteen yet until 12."
    The bar kept moving.

    But those developmental stages are very different and every single one of those years is vastly different from each other. No one is asking for them to make 7 stages of childhood. But adding Preteens would be great. I won't even ask for them to add a Little Kid stage so that you don't jump from 3 to 10.

    But if I REALLY had my druthers:

    Baby (object can remain)> Infant(1-2)> Toddler(3-4)> Little Kid (5-7)>Child (8-10 that's what they look like now)> Preteen (11-12 would be most accurate but given how they've got teenagers now 11-13)>Teen (14-17)> YA (they look about 21 but 18-29)> Adult(30-49)> Prime of their life stage (50-65/70)> Elder (65/70+)

    Like if they made the in-between states shorter than the rest. Like the ones that fall under childhood. Like you're a baby for a while. But then a toddler for an additional 2-3 years depending on how you count it. Many stop it at 5. And then you're just a little kid. Then a big kid. After awhile you're just a kid. Then a preteen and a teen.

    Things like Little Kid, and Preteen could be in-between lifestages and consequently shorter than their counterparts because in real life you're both of those things for much shorter time than the others.

    Just like how all the teen and child stages would be shorter than your adult stages bc you are an adult most of your life even if you go through more changes as a kid.

    True that I remember being a Preteen and that's when crushes came about "like he's cute I like his smile, his style like everything." Also bullying "like oh you got your clothes from the swap meat like y'all can't afford the mall?" Like I remember same thing I was watching wingz club, brace face. Preteens reminds me of Jan from the Brady Bunch and Skipper and Stacey (especially Stacey.) from Barbies life in the dream house with their parents. Also as a Preteen I was watching shows like Zoey 101, ICarly, that's so Raven, Lizzie McGuire, Degrassi 106nPark, WildnOut, Pimp my ride, watching Mtv mostly lol.

    I don't believe we will ever get preteens. (But who knows) Everytime anyone describes what they want for preteens it's exactly what we have for teens? Especially with this new highschool pack combined with parenthood we have exactly what people consider preteens. Only thing teens are missing is the shorter height. So unless they remove a lot of teen features and give it to preteens it would be a redundant life stage. Just a shorter version.
    I knew we were getting babies eventually but I don't really think we would get anymore life stages at all. I'd be really surprised if we did.
    But I still say ts4 kids is on the older side of kids I still want little kids like 5-6-7 if they were to add another life stage.
