Nightlife and Late Night add bars and nightclubs as central features, which are of course base game in Sims 4. Major gameplay systems (as opposed to standalone objects) in Nightlife are "going on dates, with rewards for success" and "going on outings with multiple friends at the same time" which are of course base game in Sims 3 and 4.
We haven't had a pack on that theme for years so I suppose the people who buy everything might enjoy some new things, but I couldn't say we needed it.
