Thanks @superkyle221 ! I probably should have clarified — part of the purpose of this thread is so people can post their sims and backstories here without having to deal with the gallery word count haha So if you’d like to flesh it out and post it here, feel free!
I edited my post to include that information :)
Well in that case...
Layla Arafa
Layla doesn't remember living in Egypt, but that doesn't stop her parents from wanting her to be a good daughter. They've already figured out their plans for her: first, she'll graduate school (gymnasium) at the top of her class, then she'll go on to a good university, where she'll become a doctor, like her father, or a scientist, like her brother, or possibly a lawyer, like her uncle. In university she'll meet an eligible suitor (and if not, these things can be arranged), get married, and provide her parents with plenty of grandchildren. It shouldn't be a problem. Her brother has the same expectations put upon him, and he doesn't have a problem with them at all.
But from a young age, Layla has always been fascinated by the Egyptian grandmother she barely remembers and hardly ever sees, a beautiful belly dancer in Al Simhara who ran wild and free and took on many lovers in her youth. While Layla doesn't care about taking on many lovers (though it would be nice, her parents don't even allow her to date!), she'd much prefer to become a dancer. Her parents don't understand why she isn't excited about their plans for her or why she spends all of her free time practicing dancing if she's not any good at it (Layla occasionally trips when standing completely still).
Layla just wants somebody who will understand her drive and ambition. Unfortunately, the only person who understands, her aunt, is hardly ever around, as she's jetting off from destination to destination (and, according to Layla's parents, living a foolish life and being an all around bad influence). She feels pressure to be the perfect child and follow her whims, but unfortunately for everybody involved, she's just as stubborn as her parents, and she refuses to give up her dreams... she just wishes that there were a way to be a world famous dancer while also making her parents happy. Why can't things just be easier?
