Calpernia St. Laurent
Born an only child to Einar and Mildred St. Laurent with the given birth name of Reinhold, young Calpernia knew she was different from the boys that she was always getting lumped with in school and other social settings. She preferred dolls to trucks and painting to sports. This caused the other children to ruthlessly pick on her. Einar knew that his kid was different and was supportive of Calpernia's pursuits however Mildred was verbally abusive of her child due to "Not being like like the other boys" and this led to many fights between Calpernia's parents. As Calpernaia grew older and got more versed in arts and music, her parents' marriage became a hollow sham due to the fighting. Mildred was cheating on Einar with the mailman while Einar was devoted more to his work in gene splicing and in particular the prized cowplant.
While her parents' live and their marriage were set in shambles Calpernia knew that she couldn't live a lie as a boy anymore. She decided to tell her parents on a cold stormy night that she was always a girl in her heart and wanted to live as her authentic self. She planned on telling her father first but he never came home. She then heard some moaning from the bedroom and though she had missed them. She opened the door and saw her mother woohoo-ing with the postman. How fitting that Calpernia stumbled to Mildred's cheating ways when trying to come out as transgender. After some arguing over all of this, Calpernia decided that the best thing to do was to run away from home and move to San Myshuno. She would do what it takes to live as her authentic self instead of living at home with her horrid mother.
After moving to the slum apartment of the Spice Market Neighborhood of San Myshuno; she would paint and sell said paintings to live off of. She was doing okay all things considered when she got a phone call from an insurance rep saying that both of her parents were dead and she was the only living heir. Evidently her father died on the fateful night she was planning to come out thanks to the prized cowplant eating him. Calpernia was saddened by this in that she never got to say goodbye to her father who she had a loving relationship with. She also found out her mother drank poison in fear of her affair being brought to light. As a result of this, she was awarded 120000 simoleons. This covered her transition with some money left to spare to move to a nicer apartment in the Arts Quarter.
Now living as her true self, Calpernia is giving High School another try, wanting an education as well as friends since she never had that before. She is hopeful that the world will love the young woman that she has become. Her style is artistic with a bit of the dark as part of her.
