The farm pictured is 7 times larger than the largest ranch in texas. It's a bit bigger than israel. The nearest town in inside it, it's that big.
It'd be so hard for ts4 to really give anything that would feel like a real farm, the best they'd be able to give is the home paddock. :/
Not all farms are huge! Trust me. I live in farm country. The area is surrounded with farms of varying sizes and contents.

But I wouldn't call much under 100 acre a real farm. A hobby farm is what small farms usually are.
You need at least 10 acres to run a dozen sheep or a couple of cows, but that's not really a farm. One horse, alone needs 40 acres of grazing land.
The average size of farms in Victoria is about 600Ha, or 1400is acre... And farms in Victoria are considered to be small compared to the rest of mainland Australia. Most farms in Australia are running several hundred head of livestock, not a dozen or so. Australia was build on the sheep's back. The backs of a lot of sheep.
Meanwhile the average farm size in the US is apparently only around 400 acre. Small by Australian standards, but still bigger than a hobby farm.

THAT would make a great home paddock. Add a couple more lots, give your sims room for livestock and crops, and then you've got something that would resemble a farm.
