The open world and create a style is part of the reason why sims 3 lagged so much.

Bad coding = lag
While it is true that open worlds and CASt would increase the load, this in itself should not create lag. Esp. not on high end machines like TS3 does. The fact that TS3 lags even on computers from the future is indicative of programmers either being inexperienced or working in a shoehorning environment/culture.
