I've finished the shell on the large lot. It is now valued at $64,500 with windows, doors, floor and wall coverings but no furniture of any kind.
Because I didn't put a sim in there, I don't have a clue how much it cost to build. But it would go way over budget just to buy!
About to go back in and download a sim into the small lot and see if I can build something for $20,000!
Built this small house on the Canyon Crossing lot. Started with $18,800 after buying the lot. By the time I built the house, put the floor and wall coverings on, and doors and windows in, I had just over $3,000 left. I think we definitely need to rethink the budget...
Okay, so budgets need reworked lol What do we think about 80k for a large then? I'd like the budget to be enough to furnish but still challenging I think

small remodel/shell - $20,000
small build - $40,000
Medium remodel/shell - $25,000
Medium build - $60,000
large remodel/shell - $30,000
Large build - $80,000

I think those numbers are good. I ran out steam tonight but I am building a large from the plans and the walls are up with paint, windows, and some furnishings. Still have around 20k left over to decorate and add landscaping

I went in game and furnished the small house with an added $20,000 to the budget from yesterday. I spent just over $21,000 to furnish the house, including 3 bedrooms and two small bathrooms. $20,000 is going to be very tight but it is doable. So maybe we should make it $30k/$70k for the medium house and $40k/$100k for the large one because I barely had any money for decorations or rugs. How did you go with creating the large house for $80k?
Looking at the property value of the small house, it is just over $33k for around $36k of building, which means the big house did have around $64k spent on it! I’m not sure I can outfit that with $16k, and even $36k would be pushing it to fully furnish it! Do we want to state that the budget is just for starting off and extras can be added later or does that defeat the purpose of having a budget?
I'm very behind! I'm going to try building one tonight with the budget and see how it goes 🙂

How are the new packs working out? I’ve got to get the crystal one before I can play Isolde but I was waiting for the emergency patch. My BB heir was affected by the inventory glitch so I’m probably going to carefully try that save out today (after backing up all my saves) as I want to complete that generation before starting in this challenge.
I just bought them today and I've been working so I haven't really had a chance to look. I've been doing the healthy thing so even though I thought I was going to play at lunch...I went for walk. Also I think I need to reboot because the FOR RENT expansion keeps saying it's "preparing" and not actually doing anything.

This is the last house plan under the large ones 🙂 I think I may end up going with it since I also want to dedicate some space to the farm. Its a guilty pleasure house since I wanted something with a silo. It was tough to find lol Although I am considering adding this one too

For Rent has been interesting - I’m currently testing that out in one of my saves. There’s a few events happening every week but the most annoying one is that the tenants ever seem to be able to take out the trash! I haven’t experimented much with Horse Ranch yet but I’m looking forward to getting some mini goats and sheep at some stage!

It looks good though and I might end up pinching it for my other challenge, although there was another plan in there that looked good too (I hadn’t looked at all the plans for the large lot). How did you do the circular staircase? I actually had to download some cc triangular windows to complete my build, though only five of the eight windows showed up in build/buy.

I think I saw something about a glitch with For Rent and downloading issues but I can’t remember for certain. You might have to shut down the computer and then try again. Failing that, there might be a discussion on this forum or the old one about it.

I didn't end up with a spiral staircase in my build, I did some weird angled thing lol
Finally! I unistalled the EA app and then reinstalled it and everything apparently was fine. I'm going in!
