How about singing around the campfire with someone playing the guitar and being told scary stories? That could be an outdoor activity for all ages. I also like the suggestion of backpacks.
You can actually see such statues in many touristy places still. Maybe it might ruffle some feathers but who knows everything ruffles feather these days.
As for the bear rug. I'll add it to my list so that it's seen immediately. It's the least I can do for those who promptly added their ideas to my thread.
