Renovating Ophelia Villa (The Goth Mansion)

Today, I decided to renovate the Goth Mansion! I created a sim called Lily Day – she is an animal lover, she’s creative, she’s vegetarian, she’s a hippy… She’s the total opposite of The Goths!

So, let’s get on to the renovation…

EXTERIOR
As you know, the Goth mansion is a dark, closed off mansion in Willow Creek.

I wanted to make the home look much more welcoming and bright to show the personality of the new owner – I went with a white house with blue windows and shutters (The Notebook, anyone?)

https://i.imgur.com/2WB0MSl.png

I also added some fun looking trees outside the front of the house to show the real uniqueness of Lily

And in the garden, I removed the old plants and instead added a small garden for Lily to grow her own fruit and veg, as well as a table and a small rocked-off garden with a fountain

GROUND FLOOR

The entryway of the house was red and decorated in a very gothic theme

https://i.imgur.com/wptQJG8.png
https://i.imgur.com/CleqhBP.png

I changed this red to a white wall colour to brighten and widen the space, as well as adding some plants, a rainbow rug, and an entry unit for putting things down as you come inside

https://i.imgur.com/18mrWSB.png

Next, the dining room was connected to the entryway behind the stairway

https://i.imgur.com/Ot7LzQe.png
https://i.imgur.com/uJb4M2M.png

At first I wanted to keep this as the dining room, but eventually decided that the kitchen was so large that it could easily accommodate a dining table too, so I made it a small recreation area with a bar and a bubble blower

https://i.imgur.com/0OgNb1E.png

The kitchen lead off from the hallway by a door and was very old fashioned

https://i.imgur.com/2S4A6NO.png
https://i.imgur.com/Sdqsluv.png
https://i.imgur.com/X1eu55K.png

I replaced the kitchen with new appliances and units as well as adding a dining table with a pretty and unique chandelier above it, and putting a washing up sink on the other side of the room

https://i.imgur.com/f2kvnq8.png
https://i.imgur.com/CUojyXC.png
https://i.imgur.com/NxvC2qv.png

The downstairs bathroom seemed quite redundant, as there are there are two upstairs

https://i.imgur.com/WozO6BU.png
https://i.imgur.com/kAJ4Qou.png

So I decided to make it a laundry room

https://i.imgur.com/Q6Gr5sY.png
https://i.imgur.com/NeXOjbF.png

The living room is the final ground floor room to be renovated. It was crowded, old fashioned, and quite drab

https://i.imgur.com/2MXUQ7v.png
https://i.imgur.com/R0XzVsF.png

I replaced the wallpaper with a fading blue paper, added some blue/green couches, a TV, an art easel, a book shelf and a bay window seat

https://i.imgur.com/TbkChsD.png
https://i.imgur.com/9dj36rg.png

SECOND FLOOR

The upstairs hallway was home to an old piano and wasn’t very welcoming

https://i.imgur.com/uRMGf7F.png
https://i.imgur.com/GkRNh08.png
https://i.imgur.com/Xp3VUuG.png

So I brightened it up with white walls and flooring, some chairs, a fish tank and some wall art

https://i.imgur.com/I7CsztV.png
https://i.imgur.com/bvrsgef.png

The hallway bathroom had a double door out onto a balcony, which I couldn’t remove, so I just went with it!

https://i.imgur.com/zwROdr7.png
https://i.imgur.com/iyRejYO.png

I modernised it with some newer furniture and wall colours

https://i.imgur.com/J326QH6.png
https://i.imgur.com/fQl33Ll.png

The first bedroom was originally old and purple

https://i.imgur.com/18wroLq.png
https://i.imgur.com/ifWz3Ks.png
https://i.imgur.com/VEJqqVE.png

I redesigned it in a beige/white theme with some more modern furniture

https://i.imgur.com/FxwcDjR.png
https://i.imgur.com/94ZD0s4.png
https://i.imgur.com/VRF3ojQ.png
The master bedroom was red and gothic

https://i.imgur.com/zoIEzA3.png
https://i.imgur.com/hDKC2xr.png

But I decided that Lily would suit a purple and vibrant theme, so I went with that!

https://i.imgur.com/8BPztW4.png
https://i.imgur.com/r1chVZS.png
https://i.imgur.com/cBaRLk0.png

The master en suite was similar to the hallway bathroom
https://i.imgur.com/PcjlOnl.png
https://i.imgur.com/VAsO57X.png

And just needed some modernising

https://i.imgur.com/isJzbYj.png

TOP FLOOR

Finally, on the upper floor was originally a small bedroom for Alexander Goth and was therefore suited to him

https://i.imgur.com/ckynQyX.png
https://i.imgur.com/RdjwAtT.png

I decided to change this to an art studio for Lily, quite plain and simple at the moment, but I wanted to leave space on the walls and floor for her creations

https://i.imgur.com/V6DLSU8.png
https://i.imgur.com/0urXdEs.png

The roof was really spacious but currently completely unused space, and I didn’t want to add too much to it because it was still the rooftop

https://i.imgur.com/F504K1R.png

The views from the rooftop, however, were too beautiful to pass up

https://i.imgur.com/9G8u4M8.png
https://i.imgur.com/e72Brmb.png

So I added a door in place of one of the upper floor windows

https://i.imgur.com/Dx0G3ZX.png

And decided to place a few art easels outside so that Lily can post some landscapes and get inspired with the view of the town
I also replaced the flooring with some black stones

And that’s my refurbishment of Ophelia Villa a.k.a. The Goth Mansion!

I hope you like it!

  • Lily is very pretty! :) Your makeover of the Goth Mansion for her looks very nice! You have made it a very welcoming and light filled placed for Sims to enjoy living it. It looks much more brighter and nice! The changes in the wallpaper gives a very nice look to the rooms, and the change in the colour scheme is very nice. It was a great idea to turn the downstairs bathroom into a laundry room. It was great seeing the before and after pictures, and reading about why and how you made the changes to the rooms and areas.
It is a very nice newly renovated home! :)
  • This is awesome! I always try to remodel homes but give up after 2 rooms or so. I'm still puzzled as to how people make these homes so beautiful and stick with it!!

Aw thank you! I tend to just step away unless I'm really feeling it. It can take me ages sometimes and other times I have a total inspiration surge!

This version of the Goth's house is absolutely gorgeous. I really liked that you tried to renovate it for a sim who is pretty much Bella Goth's antithesis. I love the new house with this fresh, modern look. Great job!

Thank you so much! I'm so glad you like it! ❤❤
