YES! I had a feeling that was what inspired it. I found that out about vampire lore too with the grains of rice before I started writing about a certain vampire, and it's why Oskar counted bats to distract himself from bitey thoughts. Omg so... Count Reuben the Grouch XD That sounds so magical ;-; I would love to have seen something like that. I was hoping maybe Reuben might have noticed about Tre not being around, but alas he is still missing. and I worry only Tris is looking for him ;-;
