Seventeen & Maldusk: A Supernatural Soap Opera

Well, the protagonist in this chapter is on the cover of the story in your signature and on the forum, so he clearly is important to the story. So that I'm Italian, the first thing I thought about when seeing him being threatened by two scary guys when trying to sell his stuff was that he could be in bad terms with a mafia or some similar organised crime group. Bad situation...

The following scene (which I took a while to remember from a previous chapter) makes it look like he was sort of spying on either Ion and/or Tre (but why, was this a task he was assigned?), and then apparently the protagonist immediately left for a quite suspicious and super-luxurious place, again full of those menacing bodyguards in uniforms. I was trying to understand what that place could be when I started to spot suspiciously pale characters around the place (wasn't it Vlad in the pool?), and I was about to call in the "vampire-mafia who likes pirates symbols" theory when the two guards started to attack the poor guy. The fact that the protagonist was apparently telling about what the conversation he saw between Ion and Tre is very suspicious as well...
Their boss looks particularly scary, probably she had some kind of plan in mind but, for the moment, I would not struggle to believe she could have planned this all out of evilness alone :#

Anyway, it looks to me that the characters in this chapter were indeed talking quite a lot to each other, I'm curious to understand what they were talking about!

- First pic speculation was a sort of organised crime thing, maybe forcing the guy to pay some sort of protection money. Or maybe asking for information on someone's whereabouts
- Second pic: Guy likely earwigging on a conspiracy theory discussion between Ion and Tre, not sure if he's more interested in Ion's being Sixamian or whatever Tre is banging on about.
- I get the vibe that a lot of these guys might be vampires? And they seem to be grilling him over whatever he heard from Tre...is there a chance Tre is targeted by this lot for his conspiracy theories? I have had a back of the mind 'this guy's gonna get himself killed' vibe for a while.
- I took the last few screenshots are either 'not enough information, help yourselves boys' or a 'wrong information, help yourselves boys'. Kind of a 'don't leave any witnesses to this convo' type thing...Eep.

Speculation by the end: Yup, they were vampires XD And also maybe the guy wasn't being hassled for information, maybe he's there at the market specifically TO listen in in a busy part of town where all the info could be. Who'd suspect a guy selling snowglobes?

You have some very interesting comments there in your speculation. So interesting that I cannot comment on most of them. :wink:

But I have to say, I love this line: "Who'd suspect a guy selling snowglobes?" :joy: Exactly. No one would. He's clearly just an honest merchant.

‘Snowglobes! Come get your snowglobes! Absolutely NO dodgy substances in here! Honest!’

Nothing suspicious at all on that table. A tradesman to be trusted for sure. One of San Myshuno's finest.

I know Im late this time, last week was testing my humour in RL, (broken fridge and other annoyances, I wish there were IRL Build/Buy-mode, I could just replace things with mouseclick) , so I had time to read at weekend, and I knew you would have new episode up at Sunday, so, decided to wait and comment both latest at same time :smiley:

Ion looks so cute while wondering the origin of pop corn :D Lol, never saw Reuben so happy before (action scene on movie) . I don't know if anyone remembers at this point, but "Diamonds are for Sims" is Reuben's favorite movie. And apparently, he likes the action parts. Too bad the others in the room wouldn't be quiet. Watching his favorite movie could have been pretty good for him right now. It's almost as if some mysterious all-powerful, guiding, outside of his world Watcher likes making his life difficult or something. :wink:

Let's hope Tre is wrong. Torturing aliens can't be a smart way for humans to introduce their planet to the rest of the galaxy.

The doors in this apartment building seem to take a lot of abuse, don't they?

As for the mystery lady - So far no one's theories have even come close (at least not regarding what she is). :lol:
