You could use that type of dialogue and accompany it with pictures that reflect what the sims are saying. It is helpful to have both pictures and words so that the reader can understand what is happening in the story.

Thank you rosemow. There will definitely be a lot of images. I was just worried that writing dialogue like the above would hinder the story vs:
"Hey Alisa. What are you up to today?" Rob asked.
"Oh hey, Rob! Not much." Alisa replied. "I'm thinking of going to the park. Wanna come with me?"
For me when I read it like how i have it in the first post, it feels more personal and connected to the conversation.
