If, (and this is a big IF), the favorites had any meaning to them, that our Sims would actually react to, or have an emotional response, then I'd like to have such things back. I selected favorite colors, music and foods in Sims3, and chose to decorate that Sim's bedroom in kind. Even when their so-called favorite song type came over the radio, I got no particular response from my Sim. I would get more of a response in CAS when changing/deciding on their clothing — at least in Sims2. My Sim would either get excited, or sound satisfied with the clothing choice. So much of these finer details have been systematically removed from this game since Sims2 was put to bed.
Just once I wanted one of my Sims to walk into their room, carefully appointed using their favorite color and colors that augmented it and I may as well have painted the walls white and everything else white, too. No reaction, no sound of Umm, or Eww, or them escaping the room as fast as possible because, oh, the horror. Shrug. I guess I ask for too much.
