- Like others have mentioned we are kinda overdue on spiral staircases, I know you can do a bootleg version of L shaped stairs now with the terrain update.
Oh, we could also use ladders. Attics don't feel right without them. - > @krenee77 said:

I agree, They took up less space and looked so classy - Spiral staircases are incredibly needed, especially if you have smaller builds!
- DarkDiamondSims7 years agoSeasoned NewcomerYES! And proper L shaped stairs! Also elevators! We need them all!
- Yaaasssss!!! Also, L and U shaped stairs, ladders (both straight and ones that fold up), escalators, and elevators.

Spiral staircases have always made sense to me for the game, especially since their floor space would be so much smaller than any of the other staircases. I assume the animation for them is harder because Sims are going in a spiral vs. a straight line? I'm not an animator, developer, or designer, so I can only assume that's the case. It also probably has the same problem behind it that the developers have with curved walls--the assets aren't designed to be viewed in a curve, and get stretched horribly like looking through a fish bowl. Granted, spiral staircase railings would be the main thing to contest with, but I'd imagine railings would be easier to design without fish bowl effects than walls and windows and curtains.
While on the subject of staircase variations, I'd really love L-shape and U-shape to be added as options in Build Mode. I think there are ways to make these when playing with split levels, but I'm unsure. I'd like to see them as options when choosing to lay down a staircase without manipulating the foundation levels. L- and U-shape would be much easier to design for the above reasons about straight lines.
Regardless, I'd really like staircase options that don't take up so much floor space. I also agree that being able to put closets and other things under stairs without cheats would be awesome. Space saving for the win!
Not necessary the animation is only harder, but how they will walk and change for each wall sizes. i hope if they ever add them, they will be in the base game. Because if they are added in a specific pack, we will might possibly never get another design for that staircase, and the look of the spiral stair will match the theme of the pack.- Hopefully we get spiral stairs and L shaped stairs soon
- leo34877 years agoSeasoned Newcomerno remember if I said at this thread, but with different wall sizes, will be different ends
I say (and you figure at a clock) with size 1, stairs start and end at 3
With size 2, start at 3 and end at 6 (1.25 turn)
With size 3, start at 3 and end at 9 (1.5 turn) - Loanet7 years agoRising ScoutIt's not just that they take up a smaller space - they'll take up as much space as they need to - but that they'll take up a different SHAPE of space, most likely 2x2, making for more kinds of buildings. They wouldn't be so likely to block doors, and you could have high walls without consequence for space.

They make different size windows, and other items (like stove covers + lights, I'm pretty sure, unless I'm remembering wrong- I haven't played in a while haha) so they could just make different sizes. Where the stairs 'end' wouldn't be an issue, you can rotate them- or at least II think you could in TS3.
