@CathyTea Calendars? I know I saw that and I'd say our groups Sims are definitely not the run of the mill ones. The idea is sort of fun so if that's what everyone wanted to I'm game. Also I tend to think of the "ant-hill" thing in a plane and I look down.
@AdamsEve1231 As far as human/non-human I tend to try to make non-human characters different in world view. If you read my vampiracy you'll see a fleshed out example of what I mean. I envision the cultural structure of said non-human and how that would color the way they see humans. Each vampire, having different life experiences, would react to humans differently also.
In terms of LHY and Han, the Gumiho, he feels he's above humans and imprisoned by humans so making a connection with any will take changing his viewpoint. Part of the fun of this story concept is working out how that will develop and what could the humans possibly do to break down that haughty exterior to make emotional connections.
I guess the simplest way is I start with the character's background whether they are human or not and try to make them so clear in my mind I instinctively know how they'll react to humans.
Oh, your Vampiracy fits this so well! I loved that relationship in gen 1.
