"Wow! This place is amazing, Reuben," I said looking around. I saw the other bachelorettes eyeing each other off and glancing over to me. Melody made eye contact with me and smiled. They all looked gorgeous.
"You look amazing, Kim."
"Why thank you, kind sir," I said. "You scrub up pretty well yourself."
"Would you like to dance?" Reuben asked.
"Yes I would and could we have a quiet moment, after the dance, please, before you spend time with the others."
"Of course, what is this about, Kimmy?"
"Don't worry now, lets enjoy this dance first."
We danced for quite a while and enjoyed each other's company. I know I have to discuss things with him, but I'm going to enjoy his closeness while I can.
"The other girls look so lovely too, don't they?" I asked.
"They do, but let's just focus on you and me for now."
"I bet you'll say that to all the girls, after all, you are the one who has to make the final decision."
"How can you be so accepting of all this, Kimmy?"
"...because Reuben it is you that we are all vying for and well, I don't think I'd like to be in your situation having to choose between all these women, but about that, can we go and talk, perhaps on the balcony, where we won't be disturbed."
"Of course."
"What did you want to talk about?" Reuben asked.
"In your interview with Aston you said I wasn't ready for the Fantasy suite. Why did you say that when I discussed it at length with you and mentioned it in my interview with the producers, that I certainly was ready, but didn't want to go that next step until you were close to making your decision? Do you remember me saying that?"
"Yes I do, but I also recall you saying in an earlier interview that you didn't mind my sharing of kisses etc. to find out if there is chemistry between me and you or any of the others. Well there is chemistry between us, that is obvious, so I couldn't understand why you chose not to continue to deepen those feelings and find out more, that night in the Fantasy Suite."
"I guess you may have a different perspective on the physical aspect of relationships, than me; most men do, some men and women do have different ideas about that. I know you have slept with a couple of the bachelorettes, and I’m not saying you should or should not, that is not my place, as long as they are not under the assumption that because they've slept with you, they are the one. Anyway, I stick to what I said, you do need to find out if the chemistry is there, but if you need to sleep with them to find that out, then perhaps you have doubts about whether it would work with them in the long term or maybe it's purely physical."
"You may be right there, Kimmy, but that doesn't change how I feel about you or that we have something special between us, that I would like to take further."
"I do appreciate that you respect me for that, and I feel the same, but my understanding was that it wasn’t just my set of morals, that stopped me sharing that night with you, I thought we agreed it was both of our values. If I misunderstood that, please...tell me."
"I am going through so many conflicted feelings, with all of you, it's not easy to deal with that."
"I understand, Reuben, but saying we signed up for this, although true, we are still all looking for real love. Just promise me, whomever you choose, if it is not those two, discuss that with them before your final decision so they can move on. I would want to know where I stood. I don't know them that well, but from some of the conversations we've had, they are both lovely people and perhaps they have different ideas on that sort of relationship, but I wouldn't like to see them get hurt anymore than any of the others."
"I'm sorry about everything that happened. Come here, Kimmy." Reuben pulled me close to his chest. "You are not just exquisitely stunning, you are a charming and beautiful person as well. I am surprised no other man has tried to snatch you up for themselves."
"Perhaps my set of morals stopped them," I said with a weak laugh.
Reuben smiled and kissed me. This kiss meant more to me than any before, as I saw another side of Reuben that I hadn't seen before and it only made me want him even more.
The little "tif" made for some good TV. Can you tell us anything more about that.
"Actually no, I'm sorry, but the press tends to sensationalise comments any of us make. Look what happened in the tabloids. That causes problems for everyone involved and can make things worse. I know this is supposed to be a reality show that is seen by millions, but it also involves actual people with real feelings and real thoughts, not just character roles playing in a movie. If that is what it takes to make a show like this work, then it needs to review its premise for this entertainment event. All I can say is that the 'tiff' as you so eloquently put it, was no more than clarifying a few misconceptions that have now been sorted. I don't believe that confrontations solve anything, talking things through and communicating, is a much more effective vice for any altercation."
Do you think the tension is coming from having to share the man you are gaining feelings for?
"That is between Reuben and me and I still say, I trust him to make the right decision. Whatever the outcome is, I feel for the women who will undoubtedly be devastated if they are not chosen as I will be also, and for Reuben, because he has built relationships with all of us, but in our society, one wife or husband is all that is legally allowed, so that is as far as it can go."
