The Jones Family Part 2: The New Tutor

The next evening, after hearing about the kids' poor grades, Tom and Sarah decided to have a family meeting. "Okay, everyone, we need to talk about your grades," Tom said, trying to stay calm. Harper slouched in her seat. "It’s hard, Dad. Everything’s different here, and I don’t understand why everyone else is doing better." Mark crossed his arms. "Yeah, I don’t like being the new kid. It feels like no one notices us." Sarah softened. "I get it, but you’re not alone. We’ll help you. We’ll find a tutor if you need it. And don’t worry about friends—they’ll come." The kids nodded reluctantly.

Later that evening, while hiring a tutor, Sarah noticed their neighbors, Summer, Travis, and Liberty, having a barbecue across the street. "What do you think?" she asked Tom. "Should we stop by?"Harper and Mark exchanged uncertain looks, but eventually agreed to go.

At the barbecue, Summer greeted them warmly. "Glad you came by " Liberty, who was playing with some other kids, waved at Harper and Mark. "Hey! Want to play soccer? I’ll teach you." Harper hesitated, then nodded. "Okay, sure." Mark grinned. "I’m in." The kids quickly made new friends, laughing and playing soccer. Meanwhile, Tom and Sarah chatted with Summer and Travis, enjoying the warm welcome.

As they headed home later, Tom smiled as they reached their front door. "We’re just getting started, soon you will have wonderful grades." And with that, the family stepped inside, ready for whatever came next. Soon the tutor arrived and said,”Hi I’m Megan, nice to meet you!” “And old grandma?!” said both the kids.
