I just don't see the point in it.
For starters, if this is what TS4 is like at the moment where there are so many great things missing (e.g. Likes and Dislikes, Terrian Tools, better romance options like finding a date online and so much more) and it just needs to be fleshed out so much more like teens having their own outfits and hair for starters! Then I fear what an online version will be like!
There will be no 'chat box'...I like talking to people in chat boxes as my headset hates me so much so that will be a BIG problem for me, plus I will hate the idea of a pop-up box showing up EVERY time someone wants to interact with my sim and if I turn that off then what was the point of being online to begin with if there is no real interaction with others?
No real money transactions? Yeah, I don't see that happening they will find something to charge us on like a subscriptions or objects and clothing.
