This hits close to home. I went to my uncle's funeral not long ago, saw a lot of relatives I haven't seen in ages. My dad commented that it would probably be the last time he ever went back home. All the people he grew up with are either dead or moved elsewhere. His one sister is out in California, his other sister is up in farm country. No, my family isn't based on this story, in case you're wondering.
I think those kind of feelings are kind of universal when you have a family that is scattered over large distances or where the members don't see each other often. But I'm glad I'm writing in a way that makes it feel real to you :)
