Thinking of Moving Erik's Family . . .

I'm currently in a total fascination with castles mood. I have always loved castles, but I have grown tired of the floorplan to Erik's current house. Mind you, I've played that lot for over a year in RT. I've done this before in prior iterations of this Sim. I ended up, rather than moving, having the house torn down, and building a new one on the same lot. That's when I first learned there was a way to move his Starlight Accolades, instead of having him purchase them again. A fellow simmer built a small mod for me that would shuttle the won trophy straight into the winner's personal inventory and allows for the Sim to remove it and place it on a shelf, or wherever. LittlemsSam has since either created one of her own, or taken it over, but at least I now have an updated version of it, when the older one ceased to function.  🤗

Funny how easily we get dependent on some things . . .

At any rate, in my current mood over this past week, I've taken some time to build a castle, or two.  Building has a way of calming my spirit when there isn't a dern thing I can do about the circumstances that have me so vexed or just terribly upset. The first one I've shared, having turned it into a restaurant, that I've play-tested and it's good to go. (I may be placing that on the Gallery soon.) I'm very grieved that after all the time and effort I put into building the original His Majesty's Table, that it's no longer playable, nor is the second version I built. In fact, most of my older builds have gone defunct on me. Gr. I'll likely change the name to Knight's Valley (my favorite vineyard).

At any rate, I do wish I wasn't at war with myself over this. I have decided if my save survives today's patch and is at least playable, that Erik, still fighting through the trauma he's been through while on his world tour, that he must relocate his family, in order for them to properly heal, too. As well as for their safety.  Jamison is attempting to become a musician like his dad, and there's already some crazy Obsessed Fans starting to hang around their home. Seems logical to me.

I may be crazy, I don't know.  I had fun building them a nice new lot.  They'll keep their chickens and their horses, but I may add another two horses, since the stable I built has room for two more.

Any thoughts, opinions or just a few you're crazy, just stick to the same lot?

Please, and thank you, in advance.

  • It may be good to move them to a new lot. It would be like a fresh start for them in a new home, but their lives still continue on developing in old and new ways. They are also all getting older so a new home may suit them a bit better? If the move to a new home will help their safety, that is a good reason to move.
But it would also be good if they remain in the same home. They have built many memories there.
I will look forward to hearing about what you decide to do 🙂

  • Thank you so much for the response. Sounds as if you're just as conflicted as I have been about it. I need to take some better pictures of the build. Once I get them, I'll share them here.

  • I've got pictures!  I used my Sim "Build Contractor" to do a bit of a test walk-thru of the newest build.  I tried it out in two places to see just what it looked like, if it was totally out of place, or just where the best setting was for it.

    Chestnut Ridge:

    Brindleton Bay:

It is Christmas Day in my game, so if they moved right away, this is what they would be moving into in Brindleton Bay. As you can see I lined the exterior of the lot with Juniper trees. this is to provide a modicum of privacy without blocking if off entirely. No reason why the hired help (Ranch Hand, Gardener) or even the Letter Carrier should have difficulty doing their jobs.

The new home that you have built is lovely! 🙂The exterior design, castle arch  windows and towers are great!  The trees will help with privacy. The home would look good in either worlds.

Hello and hope you're having  Splendid Sim Saturday!

That's quite the home for your Sims and hope they enjoy every square inch of it.  They would get lots of exercise running around all the rooms and stairs that are inside.  It looks great from the outside.  Visitors might need a 'Where am I' kiosk to find their way around.  Just kidding.

Seriously, I would save the build and although I have been waiting until my builds are mostly decorated before sharing them, I'm learning that it may be better to share them not finished in case the game crashes or so my Sims will still have their house if moved to another game save.   I recently deleted my third game save and neglected to share the house I built for them to my gallery or library so now I have to either rebuild it if I can find the pictures I posted in Bree's thread of it or find a new mission style house to build for them.

    Have a great day!

If you read the What Happened in Your Game Today? thread, you'll see I made a decision. Yay, me! LOL I may have to do a bit of juggling still (which you'll understand should you read the post) before I can actually start gameplay. But, I'm feeling rather optimistic today.
