- CathyTea8 years agoLegendHi, @Opicana !
Here's a list of the features/qualities of blogs I really enjoy:
1) Hosted on WordPress - I will read blogs that are not hosted on WordPress, but it's extra effort for me because I usually read from the WordPress Reader--that's how I keep up with the blogs I follow. So if I'm following a blog that's not on WordPress, I have to remember to go there to check for updates, and it's harder for me to "like" and comment on the posts.
2) Written with love, enthusiasm, and passion - the one quality that all the stories I enjoy most have in common is that the writers really enjoy what they're doing. It's evident that every stage, from creating characters/Sims, playing the game, taking the screenshots, writing the story, and making final edits are all done with love, engagement, and passion! That type of writer-interest just has a way of transmitting through the story, and that keeps me hooked!
3) Written because the writer NEEDS to write this story--All the stories I read and love are written because, on some level, the writer just has to tell the story! Maybe they're exploring an issue they're curious about... maybe they fell in love with their Sims... maybe they just love the feeling of writing the story. Every story that I love comes out of this place of the writer needing to tell that particular story--and that's what keeps me engaged!
Some of the stories I love have lots of screenshots, and some have none! Some have really short posts (like 50 words) and some very long posts (like 5000 words). They're written from every imaginable perspective. They're dramatic, fantastical, everyday, and challenges. I like the whole range, as long as points 2 and 3 are the sources of inspiration for them.
:) - Thank you for your insight! I think I fall into 2 and 3 fairly well...the only reason I blog is because I love telling stories and feel compelled to share the things I adore. I blog about my Sims as an outlet so that my friends, family, coworkers have to put up with less of my sharing, LOL.
Sadly, I've moved away from wordpress. I used to have a wordpress blog, but when my site grew and I wanted more features and multiple blogs all in one place, I moved to SquareSpace. I do have RSS feed links posted in an obvious spot, but I fear that's the best I can do regarding that one.
I don't necessarily want more readers. I just want to keep my current audience happy, and I want more interaction. I LOVE comments and questions regarding my Sims.
I really appreciate you sharing, and it is encouraging to know that the very basics are what compel you to read a story. - CathyTea8 years agoLegend

Your blog is beautiful! I just went there to peek at your rotation! :) Squarespace seems like such a good choice--it's super fast and it just feels like it has good code behind it! :) Smart move! - @Opicana hey!
I also use square space for my blog but I have no idea if everyone gets my blog or what I'm doing. Maybe you could check it out, plus I'd love to have a look at yours, have you got a link anywhere?

- ashubii8 years agoSeasoned NewcomerI think all of CathyTea's list is pretty spot on for me too! As far as writing/blogging style, though, I tend to enjoy a variety of different types.
I feel the same way about loving interaction, it's very inspiring and encouraging to see comments and to know people are enjoying what you're writing and doing. But I don't write for the views and comments. I write for myself, first and foremost. I started a new story recently that only has maybe 3 readers, but I've been loving writing it so much that I wouldn't care if no one read it at all; it's too much fun for me!
My chapters vary with length too, both with the writing and screenshots. I can't stay consistent, lol! Your blog is beautiful! I just went there to peek at your rotation! :) Squarespace seems like such a good choice--it's super fast and it just feels like it has good code behind it! :) Smart move!
