Caitlin and Edward left in a carriage for Windenburg the previous evening and just in time too; the baby came early that morning. Both mother and baby did great. The two of them thought together for a long moment, saying different names and just cooing at the new addition to their family.
Finally, Richard suggested, “Maren? Maren Sherwood.”

He did the chores; taking care of Goldie, the gardening, and scaring the foxes away. That was especially important now that Goldie was laying eggs. He ate breakfast and planned to go to the cottage on Nettle Lane where Benjamin and Kimberly lived; there he would ask Benjamin if he could marry his daughter. But what if he said no? Thomas couldn’t think of it… https://i.ibb.co/whV0CtC/10-20-23-9-01-34-PM.png

He arrived to their cottage. It was bigger than his own he noted regrettably. What if Kimberly wouldn’t want to marry him when she saw how small his cottage was?

“Sir, there’s something I’d like to ask you.”
Benjamin nodded and led him into the living space and they sat down. It seemed that Benjamin may have had an idea of what it was Thomas wanted to ask him.
Thomas gathered his courage. “It is my wish to marry your daughter. I don’t have a lot of money, but I have been successful so far in selling my art. I believe I can provide a comfortable home for her, if you would allow it.” https://i.ibb.co/TYw21Lt/10-20-23-9-15-04-PM.png
Bemjamin sighed. “I knew this day would come. I knew it would be soon; I could see it on her face. She’s been smiling a lot more and singing again.”
“Again?” Thomas asked.
Benjamin smiled a sad smile. “Yes. We lost her mother to illness and ever since then she’s been more withdrawn. It was hard on her losing her mother, but despite that she’s grown into a fine young woman. I would have hoped for her to be a little more financially secure, but her happiness is worth more than I could give right now. For you to be her husband means that you will put her happiness above your own. That’s what it means to be a husband. Will you do that for her?”

Benjamin got up and called Kimberly into the room.
“Do you wish to marry this young man? Is that what you want?"
“Yes, father, it is.”

Thomas had some preparations to make for the wedding, which would be the next morning at the church in Finchwick. First, he had to visit his family in Windenburg. A carriage sent by Richard came for him and picked him up and he arrived later that afternoon.
He informed his parents of his engagement and that the wedding would take place at the Cobblebottom Church in the morning. His parents were proud that he was able to afford a wedding in the church. It was all thanks to his hard work.

“Thank you.” It meant a lot to him that his family would all be there.

“Oh, yes, she is! She is the perfect horse for you, my dear.”
“Thank you, darling. Traveling will be much easier now. And, I have some news from your brother. We are to attend Thomas’s wedding tomorrow morning! We can travel there on horseback.”

The cottage was ready to welcome home his bride tomorrow. Finally, he put together a bouquet of daisies for his bride to be.

Thomas arrived at the church the next morning wearing the finest clothes he owned. His shirt complemented the light blue of Kimberly’s dress. Thomas thought she was breathtaking in her dress and veil. https://i.ibb.co/ZY2hw7y/10-21-23-9-59-43-PM.png
He handed her the daisies and she was absolutely beaming. “Thomas, you’ve thought of everything! They are beautiful.”
