Days 23, 24, & 25 - Year 1306 - Christmas

It was nearing the end of winter and soon it would be time to harvest the winter crops. Kimberly was enjoying the farm work, even singing while she worked. Kimberly would not start her apprenticeship until after Christmas.

Benjamin and Caitlin both came over frequently to say hello and to look after Emma.

Christmas was right around the corner, and with it came a new year. Kimberly got the tree ready.

Since Thomas had gone there hadn't been a steady income from his paintings and Kimberly was worried there wouldn't be many gifts for Christmas. Still, she knew it would be a special time to celebrate with Emma. She remembered that it wasn't about what was under the tree, but about the precious gift that was the birth of the savior. Because of that there was hope after this life.

Kimberly was practicing her singing as much as she could, even singing Emma to sleep.

Christmas came and Kimberly had a surprise. She got up early, purchased a cow, milked the cow, and made a delicious rabbit pie for their Christmas dinner (she forwent taking a bath to do all this).

They opened their presents. Kimberly had found a lovely blue sapphire while working and had decided to give it to Emma. She loved it!

Kimberly's gift from Emma was a pretty white stone she had found in the garden.

Benjamin came over and Kimberly had a gift for him as well. Some wool from their llama.

Caitlin and Anna came over as well and they all sang carols around the Christmas tree.

Kimberly decided to give him a gift: a bottle of fresh milk from the new cow (Milky).

Father Winter had a book for Emma and...a large sum of money for Kimberly! She was shocked! The purchase of the cow and nearly depleted her funds, but now...this was truly a Christmas miracle!

Kimberly couldn't help wonder what else would be in store for them. It had been a wonderful Christmas, even though she missed Thomas with all her heart. She knew he would be proud of where they were. She said a prayer and went to bed that night with a full heart.
